Mamaladnamala – Verein für Improvisationstheater is an amateur improvisational theatre group in Bayreuth, Upper Franconia, Bavaria, Germany. Founded in 1994, it plays an improv show on the third Friday of each month in the cultural centre Das Zentrum and also performs at private and corporate events and gives workshops.[1][2]

History

According to its founder Tina, she saw an improv show in Stuttgart in summer 1994 and, on the way home, decided with a friend to start an improv group in Bayreuth, choosing the name Mamaladnamala on the spot. The group began as a fusion of actors from the Studiobühne Bayreuth and the Brandenburger Kulturstadl; early rehearsals took place in university seminar rooms, a parish cellar or outdoors, and its first appearances were in the Glashaus, the Podium, at a trade fair and at a festival. Over the years it organised events such as the "Olimpros" with improvisers from around the world in the Zentrum. The founder withdrew about 2018.[2]

Repertoire

The group improvises stories, film epics and songs from audience suggestions, and also plays improv matches with a referee and moderator.[1][3]

Venue

The monthly shows take place in Das Zentrum, Äußere Badstraße 7a, Bayreuth.[1]
